Privacy and clinical-data caveats

Dental clinics sit at the intersection of GDPR, the Norwegian Patient Records Act, and consumer protection. Here is what actually applies.

Skaala does not store medical records. Contact info, requested time, and symptom text are customer data, not journal entries. You remain journal-responsible.

GDPR and DPA

Skaala signs a DPA, hosts data in the EU, and recordings are deleted on the schedule you choose (default 30 days). A ROS assessment is recommended.

Helsenormen, NHN, eHelse

Skaala is NOT Helsenormen-accredited, NOT connected to Norsk helsenett (NHN), and is NOT an eHelse-certified tool. It's a front-of-house AI — not a clinical record system or a sensitive-message channel.

Call recording and consent

Norwegian law allows recording calls you participate in, but you must inform the patient. The AI opens with this; recordings are flagged in the dashboard.
